  FSX ‘Project Black’ Panels Support

Latest Update: June 17, 2010 View Comments

This is the OLD Support Area for my FSX ‘Project Black’ Panels (Version 6.21 and below).
Please, GO HERE for the NEW Support Site.

v6.2 Upgrade Enhancements List:
- 27 Panel Variations are now included.
- Trim Gauges have been added to all Panels in a popup window.
- 2 versions of a Quad Piston Engine Panel are now available (Standard and ‘Flying Boat’).
- A panel for the CL-215 ‘Water Bomber’ is now available (2_Recip_wb).
- A Twin Jet panel without ‘auto reverse thrust’ is now available… I have found a few aircraft allow the application of reverse throttle but do not actually have reverse thrust (so it ends up being forward thrust, which is not going to slow an aircraft down). This variation solves that problem (2_Jet_nrt).
- Some 2 & 4 Turboprop aircraft tend to pull too hard, this causes the SRS to pulse reverse thrust off & back on without slowing the aircraft below 35kts… The solution to this problem was to feather the props as soon as reverse thrust is removed. Two additional panels have been created that use this method to make the SRS work properly (2_TProp_pf & 4_TProp_pf).
- A new TOGA system automatically engages the AP in ALT HLD Mode for both Takeoff & Go Around.
- A 2 state TOGA Active indicator replaces the 1 state indicator used in previous versions.
- The autopilot will automatically disengage at 200′ (DH) when landing.
- Automatic throttle down from SPD HLD (@ 30 feet RA) when landing has been added.
- Landing Lights turn on automatically when gear is lowered to land.
- The Radar Altimeter now shuts off at 2000 feet.
- The Decision Height Indicator no longer illuminates during takeoff.
- An improved (3 state) Ice Warning Gauge has been added.
- The Parking Brake & Autobrake Control was removed from panels for aircraft that can only land on water.
- The original 3_Recip panel had no Gear Control (it was designed for the Trislander), it has been renamed to 3_Recip_ng and the 3_Recip panel now has Gear Controls.
- Several updated help and information text files are also included.
- Various visual improvements and extras have been worked is as well.
- A solution to the ’64bit OS crash’ will be in a separate download that also includes the v6.2 upgrade.

* Patch & Upgrade Files for the OLD VERSION:
v6.21 Quick Patch (Deals with missing gauges)
v6.2 Upgrade (Upgrades all previous versions, Full Package must already be installed)
64bit Fix & v6.2 Alternate (Download ONLY if FSX crashes when using the standard release)

Looking for a functional ‘all-in-one’ panel? This package might be worth a look then, with a consistent layout for all instrumentation except aircraft type specific gauges (like engine displays and controls), this package offers panels for nearly all possible aircraft types. These IFR compatible 2D panels use several autopilot systems (proper for each aircraft type) and have all the bells and whistles in easy reach; including an upgraded PFD, backup gauges, full IFR gauges (including ADF), fuel request, jetway toggle, engine startup and shutdown ability, a speed reduction system with auto spoilers, auto reverse thrust and auto taxi after landing, automatic gear, a true auto-smoke gauge that works with any aircraft having an engine smoke system, ground handling, pushback and popups like a custom exits control gauge, wind / V speed information and a TCAS radar plus much more. No attempt was made to replicate an actual aircraft panel, these were made to allow flight of any aircraft in any location or situation without having to figure out how to use a different panel for each plane, and to assure all the necessary controls are present.

    Hi,

Beautiful screenshot. Everything seems to be there. Unfortunately I cannot get the panel to show.
I have tried option 1 and 2. Should the panel V6.1 folder go inside the Simobjects/airplanes folder ? I cannot find an Aircraft folder.
I use Windows XP, Flightsimulator X with SP1 and 2.

Yes, I guess I did say 'Aircraft' when it is actually 'Airplanes'. Copy the Panels_v6 folder to the /SimObjects/Airplanes/ folder and then alias the desired panel to the airplane (an example alias panel.cfg file is included in the download), or just rename the desired panel to 'panel' and put it in the folder for the airplane. I have corrected the typo/mistake in the ReadThis file and it will be included in the v6.2 update, which should be released later tonight.

Brilliant, if the Bristol Britannia had a panel like your 4_TProp it would still be in commercial operation. I have never heard of a volcano stopping a Brit.

This is one of the best add-ons I have ever encountered for FSX. Initiallly I had crash on my 64-bit, but then I google Project Black Panel's web site, landed here, got the updates and every thing is super awesome now.
Can't thank you enough for this add-on. Eagerly waiting for 6.3.

    Cheers,
    AJS

Congratulations on a great concept. For me it has completely revolutionised FSX. Knowing where a specific function is on each panel type is great, and whats more all of the panels look great. Well done.
