I got this as an email today, and while I cannot say if it is 100% accurate, I do think it makes a very good point… Your vote can change this! LET ME SEE IF I GOT THIS RIGHT: IF YOU CROSS THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET 12 YEARS HARD LABOR. IF YOU CROSS THE IRANIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU ARE DETAINED INDEFINITELY. IF YOU CROSS THE AFGHAN BORDER ILLEGALLY, YOU GET SHOT. IF YOU CROSS THE SAUDI ARABIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE JAILED. IF YOU CROSS THE CHINESE BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU MAY NEVER BE HEARD FROM AGAIN. IF YOU CROSS THE VENEZUELAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE BRANDED A SPY AND YOUR FATE WILL BE SEALED. IF YOU CROSS THE CUBAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE THROWN INTO POLITICAL PRISON TO ROT. IF YOU CROSS THE U.S. BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET A JOB, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I HAD A FIRM GRASP ON THE SITUATION… |

UPDATE: Just today Florida has accepted another 700 Haitians to our hospitals while other states refuse them… We had the highest Haitian population in the United States before the earthquake and they keep bringing us more, let’s start to balance this out a bit please. And two thumbs down for CNN… I am not real big on politics, but Governor Christ gets my vote for standing up and saying “stop bringing Haitians to Florida”. CNN acted like he is Satan himself for telling the military to stop dropping off hundreds of Haitians in Florida, but I have an idea… If all these Hollywood stars love Haitians so much, start bringing them to California hospitals, Florida is full. CNN would have you believe Miami’s ‘little Haiti’ is like a vacation resort, in fact it is more like an open sewer. To be honest, I would like to see the government offer all the Haitians in America $5000 and free passage back to Haiti so they can help rebuild their country. Read between the lines of what is being reported and you will see that the supposedly ‘docile’ Haitians are far from what they would like you to believe. The country has no real government and is mostly run by gangs… Contrary to what is being said on CNN, Haiti is an extremely violent place, so much so that they cannot even allow men to receive food, they have to pepper spray them to keep control and distribute aid to women, who might share it with their children. Call me what you want for my opinion of the sad situation in Haiti, but think of it this way… We are dumping huge amounts of money into Haiti to help them out, but I feel it is much like trying to grow crops in a desert. Sure, if you throw enough money at it you can get it to happen, but it is not going to make it start raining, so as soon as the money stops flowing in the crops will whither and die. Haiti is not much different today than it was the day before the earthquake, and until THEY figure out how to change things, we are throwing our money down the toilet, because unless you want to keep sending it forever (which America cannot afford to do if we ever want our economy to improve) you are trying to grow corn that will end up costing $100 per serving. |

I am sure I will be torn apart for this, but think it has to be said… Without doubt the earthquake in Haiti is a terrible shame… Talk about being kicked when you are down. However, with the current condition of the economy in the United States I do not think it is fair to Americans that we send resources away that are badly needed here. Maybe I am off base, but my opinion is that no matter how much aid you throw at Haiti, in the long run nothing is going to change until the Haitian people work together to make those changes. With that said, you may as well flush any food or money being sent there down the toilet, because the problem is much bigger than this earthquake and those resources would have been much better spent on the American economy. I can see nothing good coming from this, in the end Haiti will still be a country in ruins and many Haitians will end up in the United States, placing even more strain on our already faltering economy. I think it is time for Americans to put America first and fix our country before we decide to expend resources trying to fix other peoples problems. As soon as no more Americans need jobs, food or a place to live we can start to worry about helping those who seem incapable of helping themselves, not before. Bottom line, if you want to donate to humanitarian groups or similar organizations who can offer help to the earthquake victims great (though as an American I think all of America would be better off if you decided to help other Americans), but don’t send my tax dollars down the crapper when America is in trouble. |
